GCBC 2025 - WHO TOOK HOME THE PRIZE??

GCBC 2025 - WHO TOOK HOME THE PRIZE??

Six competitors, only one winner, and a slew of prizes courtesy of our good friends at Langdon, Oatly, Omwani, Sanremo.

Who would take home the prestigious one-of-a-kind GCBC crown? Made of 24 Carat Cardboard and coated in only the finest aluminium tape, the competitors were chomping at the bit to take home this priceless artefact (subject to returning it a year later for the next competition).

Joking aside, with the winner also taking home a Sage machine and second place treated to a home pour over setup and grinder, there were some serious prizes up for grabs...

Freya, George, Kiyoshi, Phil, Sam, and Tom, all pulled brilliant shots, poured some exceptional milk, and showcased their own exciting takes on everyone’s favourite caffeinated beverage in the signature drink round. Those of you regular to our Canterbury shop might recognise the Black Mocha that George whipped up (quite literally) for the judges.

It was a not only a great way to celebrate the amazing people at Garage that make this company what it is, but also to introduce the team to the amazing new Roastery café space (which if you haven’t visited yet, you really should!).

After a series of breathtaking barista performances, lengthy and animated deliberation from the judges (seriously, look at those judgy faces), there could of course be only one winner.... Kiyoshi!

His Corange, an orange infused cortado, just blew the judges away. The drink really played to his milk pouring strengths and the flavours of the orange married perfectly with the zesty citrus tones of his chosen coffee, our recently departed Midnight Flyer (gone but not forgotten).

After a day of non-stop coffee and competition, we all really needed a way to soak up all that caffeine, and what could have been better than a hog roast and BBQ. Thank you Omwani for putting this on for us and Sanremo for the drinks!

Well done to Freya, Phil, George, Sam, Tom, and of course Kiyoshi for competing. You were all simply exceptional and put the seal on a really enjoyable event for everyone.

Another big thank you to our sponsors, Langdon Coffee Merchants, Oatly, Omwani, and Sanremo, it was a really fantastic event and a great way to launch our new roastery site – it would not have been possible without you!
