“Just over six months ago, we were forced to close our shop doors due to a situation that we couldn’t quite ever imagine happening. When this photo was taken back in January, COVID had only just been given its name, and we were preparing for an exciting 2020. There weren’t many people with a global pandemic in their business plan after all.

Slowly but surely, we re-opened our shop doors, and added Margate to our collection, with a continued commitment to serving up great coffee and cake. I can only say we have been overwhelmed with the support we have seen from the communities we serve, not only in-store, but also across the UK with our ever-growing online subscription family.

It’s also been a pleasure working with our wholesale customers to get them serving great coffee again, as well as helping new places open up for the first time.

However, the environment we operate in continues to be challenging. We have seen many businesses change how they do things, and in some instances not make it out the other side, through no fault of their own. Yet, the path ahead doesn’t seem to be any clearer.

That said, it’s been inspiring to see so many of our hospitality colleagues coming up with new and innovative ways to get back on their feet and operating in a safe and secure way.

I know it can sometimes be a struggle, given that the customer experience isn’t quite the same these days, and communicating from behind a face mask with fogged up glasses is far from ideal, but positivity will help us all prevail!

So, as we head into this traditionally busy retail period, we must continue to be kind, be patient, be supportive of small business and keep drinking great coffee.

Stay safe & speak soon,

Luke”
